An 80-ton supermarket made completely out of transparent blocks of ice just opened in the Romanian capitol of Bucharest for the Christmas season. The walls, shelves, counters, and displays have all been painstakingly sculpted out of ice and have been decorated with wine bottles, cans, and packaged goods that are actually embedded in the ice.
The Profi Ice Store is run by one of the largest supermarket chains in Romania, Profi Rom Food, and it covers 150 square meters of space. The inside of the shop must remain at five degrees celsius or below at all times, and offers more than 500 local products to shoppers. The ice store will remain open afternoons and evenings through December 24th.
