Tradition of high-level understanding has begun: Oli

CPN-UML parliamentary party (PP) leader KP Sharma Oli has remarked that the political parties have set a trend of high level agreement by not filing any nominations for the post of Constituent Assembly (CA) chairman against the party's candidate. He underlined the need for developing such tradition in the coming days.

Presenting his speech on behalf of CPN-UML candidate for the post CA chairman candidate Subash Chandra Nembang at the CA meet on Tuesday, Oli necessitated that the parties should move ahead through consensus and cooperate. "Even though we have differences in many things, there are certain things that are common as well," he said, "Drafting the constitution is the common duty of everyone. We need to end the flaws and misunderstandings among us and move forward."

The CPN-UML PP leader expressed his confidence that Nembang will work in an unbiased, democratic manner and beyond the influence of party. "He (Nembang) will completely be outside the party influences," said Oli, "He will fully honour the post of CA chairman."

While supporting the candidacy of Subash Chandra Nembang at the CA meet, Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Krishna Sitaula expressed his belief that Nembang, amidst different ideologies and notions, will be successful in uniting everyone to draft a common constitution. "We are supporting him with the hope that the Nepali people will get a constitution within 11 months under his chairmanship."
