Journo attack: Assailants will be nabbed soon, says Police

KATHMANDU, JAN 08 - Police said on Wednesday that they were close to identify the ones involved in the attack of Nagarik Daily's Chief Editor Prateek Pradhan .

Talking to the representatives of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) along with the editors of daily newspapers at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Upendra Kanta Aryal said the motorbikes used in the attack had been identified and that the assailant s would soon be caught and made public.
A team of journalists reached Singha Durbar to draw the attention of Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire and Home Secretary Janardan Nepal into the incident of vandalism and attack.
An unidentified group of people, with hockey sticks and swords, had attacked journalist Pradhan while he was inside his car near Baneshwor yesterday evening.
> Stating that the Baneshwor Police beat started the investigation as soon as the incident took place, IGP Aryal informed that the responsibility of the investigation has been given to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bijay Lal Kayastha of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
Assuring action against the culprits, Home Minister Ghimire and Home Secretary Nepal deplored the attack on journalist Pradhan.
