TU sacks IoM Dean Sharma :: रेग्मीको अल्टिमेटमपछि डिन बर्खास्त, केसीले अनशन नतोड्ने :: Dean Sharma fired
The newly appointed Dean at the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Dr Sashi Sharma was fired from his position on his refusal to quit within 24 hours of the directive issued by the Chief Justice-cum-Chairman of the Council of Ministers in his capacity as the Chancellor of Tribuvan University (TU).
Regmi took the move after Sharma refused the government request to step down.
Dr Govinda KC of the IOM is on fast unto death demanding the resignation of Dr Sharma and has refused to break his fast.
निर्णयको जानकारी लिएर उपकुलपतिका स्वकीय सचिवहरू ईश्वरमान महर्जन र राजु श्रेष्ठ साँझ मन्त्रिपरिषद अध्यक्षको कार्यालय पुगेका थिए। त्रिवि कार्यकारी परिषदले 'त्रिवि चिकित्साशास्त्र अध्ययन संस्थानको डिन पदमा कार्यरत प्रा.डा. शशी शर्मालाई १०/८ देखि लागू हुने गरी पदबाट हटाउने' र निर्णय गरेको जानकारी मन्त्रिपरिषद् अध्यक्ष एवं त्रिवि कुलपतिलाई पठाउने निर्णय गरेकोे पत्रमा उल्लेख छ। डा. शर्मा राजीनामा दिने मनस्थितिमा भए पनि त्रिवि पदाधिकारीले उनलाई अदालत जाने बाटो खोलिदिन बर्खास्तीको निर्णय गरेको स्रोतको दाबी छ। डिनबाट शर्माको बर्खास्तीसँगै १२ दिनदेखि अनशनमा रहेका डा. गोबिन्द केसीको अनशन अन्त्यका लागि सरकारका तर्फबाट एक टोलीले केसी पक्षधरसँग वार्ता गरिरहेको छ। चिकित्सा क्षेत्रका लागि छुट्टै विश्वविद्यालयको आवश्यकता, सम्भाव्यता, लगानीलगायत विषयमा अध्ययन गर्न एउटा समिति निर्माणको तयारीमा सरकार छ। त्रिवि चिकित्साशास्त्र अध्ययन संस्थानका पूर्व डिन रमेशकान्त अधिकारीको संयोजकत्वमा बन्ने सात सदस्यीय टोलीले यसको जिम्मा पाउने शिक्षा मन्त्रालय स्रोतले जनाएको छ। सम्भवतः भोलि बिहान बस्ने मन्त्रिपरिषद बैठकले यसबारे निर्णय गर्ने छ।
डिन शर्मा बर्खास्त भएपनि प्रा. डा. गोविन्द केसीले भने आमरण अनशन नतोड्ने भएका छन् । १२ दिनदेखि अनशनमा रहेका केसीको अवस्था गम्भीर छ । केसीले निवर्तमान डिन प्रकाश सायमीलाई पुर्नवहली गर्नु पर्ने र सायमीले अस्वीकार गरे वरिष्ठताका आधारमा नयाँ डिन नियुक्त गर्नु पर्ने, निजी कलेजलाई सम्वन्धन दिन पूर्ण रोक लगाउनु पर्ने र चिकित्साशास्त्र अध्ययन संस्थानलाई स्वायत्त बनाउनु पर्ने अडान लिएका छन् ।
KATHMANDU, JAN 22 - A meeting of Tribhuvan University (TU) executive council on Wednesday sacked Dr Sashi Sharma , newly appointed Dean of the Institute of Medicine (IoM).
TU source said the decision of the execute council to relieve Dr Sharma as IoM Dean was communicated to the Council of Ministers.
Chairman of the Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi on Tuesday had ordered TU to revoke Sharma's appointment amid mounting pressure from several quarters as the normal hospital services were stalled for several days because of the doctors' strike.
Senior Dr Govinda KC is on a fast-unto-death strike for the past 12 days protesting against the appointment of Dr Sharma as IoM Dean.
KC's deteriorating health condition and NMA's reluctance to resume hospital services until his demands were met had exerted immense pressure on government to sack Sharma, one of the major demands of senior orthopedic doctor at the TUTH.
Nepal Medical Association (NMA) decided to stage strike in hospitals, both private and government, across the country since Sunday, expressing solidarity with the seven-point demand put forth by Doctor KC.
KC's demands include replacement of incumbent Dean Sharma with the outgoing Dean Dr Prakash Sayami and some crucial reforms at the IoM.
