All party meet endorses 4-pt pact

KATHMANDU, DEC 24 - An all party meeting at the Peace Fund Secretariat in Babarmahal, Kathmandu on Tuesday has endorsed the agreement reached earlier today among the major parties.
The leaders of major three parties— Nepali Congress , CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist)--and Madhes-based parties were present in the meeting today.
The leaders present in the meeting have signed on the 4-point deal reached among the NC, UML and UCPN (M) earlier today.
According to the agreement, the coordinator of the proposed High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) will be finalised by the Constituent Assembly. The agreement has cleared the decks for the formation of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
Earlier in the day, major three parties--NC, UML and UCPN (Maoist)--had signed a four-point deal agreeing to form a High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM), a parliamentary board to look into alleged rigging during the November 19 Constituent Assembly (CA) polls, Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Commission on enforced Disappearances.
NC President Sushil Koirala, UML Chairman Jhanalanth Khanal, UCPN (M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, MJF-L Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, TMLP Chairman Mahanta Thakur, Sadhbhawana Chairman Rajendra Mahato, TMSP Chairman Mahendra Yadav have signed on the agreement paper.
The pact reached this morning, however, was silent on the leadership of HLPM. Earlier, UCPN (M) was staking claim over HLPM leadership.
Meanwhile, the parties have also agreed to request the Election Commission to extend the deadline for the submission of the names of PR candidates. The deadline, already extended twice, set by EC is ending tomorrow.
The meeting had also reached an agreement in principle to draft the new constitution within six months and promulgate the constitution within a year.
Meanwhile, the deal inked by the three major parties has been welcomed by the UCPN (Maoist)-led 18 party alliance. The ongoing meeting has been called to give final shape and endorse the agreement reached earlier today.
