11 UCPN (M) leaders resign en masse over PR row

KATHMANDU, JAN 01 - Eleven leaders of the UCPN (Maoist) , including a Constituent Assembly member-elect from Kalikot district, have resigned en masse, citing the reason that no leaders were selected for the Proportional Representation electoral system from the district.

CA member and central member Mahendra Bahadur Sahi and another central member Jivan Budha submitted the resignation letter addressing party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday.

Others to resign en masse are Laxmi Prasad Chaulagain, Govind Bahadur Batala, Dambar Bahadur Sahi, Dev Jung Sahi, Bidya Devkota, Yeshoda Neupane, Sarparaj Singh, Khem Bahadur Singh and Jay Chandra Adhikari.

"As the selection of the leaders in the PR list completely downplayed the aspiration of Kalikot people, cadres and leaders, we've resigned from our posts and all responsibilities from the party by respecting the aspiration of the district people, cadres and leaders," stated the resignation letter.
